Steven Naismith suspended for two international fixtures

Naismith hit with ban

Everton midfielder Steven Naismith has been banned for two matches with Scotland after being found guilty of violent conduct.

FIFA have deemed the playmaker guilty for elbowing Serbia's Srdjan Mijailovic during a 2014 World Cup qualifier, which ended goalless last month.

There were questions over whether the former Rangers star would suffer a ban and the world governing body have announced today that Naismith will not be eligible to play in the Scots' qualifiers against Wales and Belgium next week.

The decision was based on video evidence following the match.
