Klaas-Jan Huntelaar eyes Champions League qualification

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar sets his sights on Champions League qualification and believes that his side could finish as high as second this season.

Schalke 04 striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has set his sights on helping the team qualify for the Champions League this season.

Schalke have recently moved into the top four of the Bundesliga table at the expense of Borussia Monchengladbach courtesy of two wins from two games since the season restarted after the winter break.

Huntelaar started both of those matches having spent five-and-a-half months on the sidelines through injury, and he believes that his side could even have the quality to finish second behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich.

"Our priority is qualifying for the Champions League. We could still even finish second, but we shouldn't make things unnecessarily complicated for ourselves but rather take things from game to game," Huntelaar told Sport Bild.

Schalke are currently six points behind second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, whom they face next weekend after this Sunday's meeting with Hannover.
