Sassuolo earn vital win against Catania

Sassuolo have won for the first time in nine Serie A matches after coming from behind to beat fellow strugglers Catania 3-1 at the Stadio Alberto Braglia this afternoon.

Cristiano Biraghi came close to opening the scoring for the visitors in the fourth minute when he fired in a strike that crashed off the post before going behind.

Catania threatened again midway through the first half as Francesco Lodi latched onto a free kick inside the six-yard box, but saw his effort saved by Gianluca Pegolo.

On the half-hour mark Catania took the lead. Gonzalo Bergessio collected Pablo Barrientos's ball over the top and took a touch before lashing a strike past the keeper.

In the 56th minute the home side equalised through Simone Zaza, who slotted Antonio Floro Flores's cross into the back of the net from close range.

They scored a second soon after when Simone Missiroli was picked out by Floro Flores, and he powered a header past Mariano Andujar.

Sassuolo made the points safe with a minute of the match left to play, as Nicola Sansone was picked out by Missiroli and found the bottom corner from close range.
