St Louis City vs. Seattle - prediction, team news, lineups

Off the back of consecutive defeats, St Louis City will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Seattle Sounders to CITYPARK on Saturday.

Seattle Sounders, meanwhile, head to Missouri in search of a second victory on the bounce having returned to winning ways in their most recent involvement.

Match preview

St Louis City were beaten for the second time in the space of three days in a 3-1 defeat against FC Cincinnati in Sunday's meeting at TQL Stadium.

Goals from Luciano Acosta and Yuya Kubo left Bradley Carnell's men down by two, but they managed to halve the deficit thanks to Matt Miazga's own goal after which Sergio Santos sealed the deal.

Consequently, St Louis City remain ninth in the Western Conference of the MLS table, three points shy of Vancouver Whitecaps in the race for the final guaranteed playoff spot.

Awaiting them next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who came out on top in both of the previous two editions of this fixture by a combined score of 5-0.

Fresh from seeing their seven-game unbeaten home run come to an end, Sunday's hosts set out to avoid back to back defeats on their own patch for the first time since October.

Seattle Sounders secured safe passage into the quarter-finals of the US Open Cup thanks to a 2-1 victory over Phoenix Rising at Lumen Field on Thursday.

Brian Schmetzer's men went into the interval trailing to Remi Cabral's opener before second-half strikes from Alexander Roldan and Kossa-Rienzi Kalani turned the game around.

This came off the back of a 1-1 stalemate against Vancouver Whitecaps, which left the Rave Green 10th in the Western Conference standings.

Boasting just two wins from their last 10 games on the road across all competitions, Saturday's visitors have struggled away from home of late and will be keen to turn things around.
