Dallas can sweep their season series with St Louis City when the two sides square off in MLS action on Saturday at Energizer Park.
A 3-2 defeat versus the Houston Dynamo has St Louis second from the bottom in the Western Conference, with the Toros nine points above them following a 1-1 draw with Los Angeles FC.
Match preview
While St Louis have been much more entertaining since Olof Mellberg was sacked, the results continue to go against them under new management.
David Critchley’s men have lost their last three league contests by a 3-2 score, winning just two of their previous 12 matches in this competition.
Making the post-season at this stage will be a significant challenge for this club that are currently 14 points below the playoff line with six matches remaining.
As unlikely as it may seem, if they can win all of those games, St Louis would surpass their points total from 2024 (37) and avoid this being their worst-ever campaign in MLS.
By winning their final three games at Energizer Park, they would equal their number of home triumphs in this competition from last season (seven).
St Louis have never lost a competitive fixture versus the Toros, coming from behind to beat them 2-1 in a 2024 Leagues Cup affair at Energizer Park.
A post-season berth may still be within reach for Dallas, though they have not improved their position in the table much in recent weeks.
Eric Quill’s side have dropped points in three of their previous four league contests, putting them five points below the post-season line.
In 2025, they have failed to win three regular-season affairs when leading at the half, losing seven points, which could have come in handy at this stage of the campaign.
At the same time, if they can turn things around, they might be OK, as Dallas have two games in hand on the San Jose Earthquakes, whom they trail by five points for that final post-season berth.
Four of their remaining seven games take place outside of Frisco, with this team having won just one of their previous seven away games in MLS.
While they have never won a match in St Louis, the Toros have collected at least a point in four of their six all-time meetings against the Missouri club, posting a clean sheet in each of those instances.

Logan Farrington had the only goal of that match for Dallas, scoring seven minutes after Son Heung-min had put the Black and Gold in front.
