Preview: Rotherham United vs. Cardiff City

Sports Mole looks ahead to Tuesday's Championship clash between Rotherham United and Cardiff City.

Rotherham United prepare to host Cardiff City on Tuesday night with renewed confidence after picking up a vital victory in their battle to avoid relegation.

Kari Arnason scored the winner five minutes from time as Rotherham came from behind to beat Millwall 2-1 and make it a six-point gap between themselves and the bottom three.

It was a win which will boost the squad as they look to secure at least another season in the Championship, but Steve Evans will be fully aware that his side are still under pressure with so much of the campaign remaining.

However, with just five points separating Rotherham and the top half of the table, the fans will be keen to see their team push on, and they will be just one point behind Cardiff if they secure a second successive league win for the first time this season.

Inconsistent form has been the big concern for Cardiff under Russell Slade, and a 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday made it five home games without a win in all competitions for the Bluebirds.

The defeat ended a five-match unbeaten run in the league, and Slade was dealt a further blow as Peter Whittingham picked up a red card to rule him out of the trip to the New York Stadium.

Tom Adeyemi could be recalled in midfield as a result, but Cardiff are likely to stick with the strike partnership of Eoin Doyle and Kenwyne Jones.

Rotherham are expected to name an unchanged side, which means Connor Sammon could be forced to settle for a place on the bench once again.

Rotherham:

Recent form: WLDLLW

Possible starting lineup: Collin, Hunt, Broadfoot, Arnason, Fryers, Newton, Green, Smallwood, Pringle, Ward, Derbyshire

Cardiff:

Recent form: DDDDWL

Possible starting lineup: Marshall, Peltier, Manga, Morrison, Connolly, Kennedy, Gunnarsson, Adeyemi, Noone, Jones, Doyle

Sports Mole says: 2-2
