Report: Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger close to Roma switch

Roma are reportedly close to completing the signing of Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger.

The 22-year-old, who moved to the Mercedes-Benz Arena from Borussia Dortmund in 2011, has made 66 Bundesliga appearances for the club.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Roma have beaten off competition from Napoli to sign the German centre-back, although a knee injury could complicate a potential transfer this month.

Rudiger has six caps for the German national team.
