Roma see off Frosinone to stay unbeaten

Roma beat Frosinone 2-0 to move to the top of Serie A and extend their unbeaten start to the season.

Goals from Iago Falque and Juan Iturbe have secured a 2-0 victory for Roma in their Serie A clash against Frosinone at Stadio Matusa.

Although the hosts had early long-distance efforts on goal through former Aston Villa midfielder Aleksandar Tonev's wayward strike and Robert Gucher's attempted lob, Roma dominated the game and deserved their victory.

Seydou Keita should have opened the scoring when he was found by Alessandro Florenzi's inch-perfect free kick, but the Malian could only head wide of the target from a good position.

Florenzi then had a shot blocked as the Rossoneri went searching for an breakthrough, but Wojciech Szczesny had to be alert to keep out a long-range Tonev drive with a good fingertip save as the hosts countered.

It was Roma who always looked the more likely, though, and after Edin Dzeko just failed to keep his shot down after being slipped through by Francesco Totti, they finally got the breakthrough that they deserved a minute before the interval when Falque made the most of poor defending to latch on to Lucas Digne's throw-in to fire home.

The hosts started the second half on the front foot as they looked to take the game to Roma, and Szczesny was forced into sharp saves to deny Aleandro Rosi, Daniel Ciofani and Federico Dionisi.

Roma survived those nervous first 10 minutes of the second half and looked to put the game beyond doubt by pushing further up the field, a move which should have been rewarded when Falque could only head wide.

Totti had two shots blocked and Florenzi thundered a strike against the post as the visitors pressed for a second, and they finally doubled their lead in the third minute of injury time.

Substitute Mohamed Salah won the ball in midfield and released Juan Iturbe, who sprinted through on goal and smashed past Nicola Leali to seal the win and make it three games unbeaten for Roma this season.
