Rochdale boss Keith Hill defends Matt Done sale

Keith Hill says that selling Rochdale top scorer Matt Done to Sheffield United is good business for the club.

Rochdale manager Keith Hill has suggested that the sale of top scorer Matt Done to League One playoff rivals Sheffield United is good for both the player and the club.

The Blades have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 26-year-old, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the South Yorkshire outfit.

However, despite letting one of his players join a close rival, Hill believes that the deal represents good business for Dale.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "Matty Done has had a hell of time at the club. He helped us get promoted, albeit in a different position, and has been magnificent since we moved him to a number nine/11 position.

"He has been magnificent, not only as team player, but with his goal scoring aspects as well, but I believe we've struck the right balance by doing this deal.

"This is massive success for the football club and no-one should be blamed and the finger shouldn't be pointed – this is really, really good business for the football club."

United are currently sixth in League One, one point and one position ahead of Rochdale.
