Bradley Wright-Phillips agrees New York Red Bulls extension

New York Red Bulls have announced that Bradley Wright-Phillips has signed a new contract with the Major League Soccer side.

The former Southampton and Charlton Athletic striker was the team's top goalscorer during the 2014 campaign, netting 31 times in all competitions, as well as setting a new MLS single-season record with 27 goals.

The team's sporting director, Andy Roxburgh, said: "Following his outstanding performances in 2014, which produced 31 goals in all competitions, the club has decided to make Bradley Wright-Phillips a MLS Designated Player.

"Bradley is not only a prolific goalscorer, he is an excellent professional and a great team player who will be a big asset to the club in the coming seasons."

The announcement comes just days after former France international Thierry Henry confirmed that he would be leaving the team after four years.
