Almeria, Real Sociedad share points

Real Sociedad come from behind twice to share a 2-2 draw with Almeria in La Liga.

Real Sociedad came from behind twice to share a 2-2 draw with Almeria at Juegos Mediterraneos in La Liga this evening.

The home side were handed a chance to take the lead inside the opening five minutes when Geronimo Rulli came off his line to bring down Thievy Bifouma.

Verza stepped up to take the resulting penalty and fired it into the bottom left corner, sending Rulli the wrong way.

Sociedad managed to get back on level terms with less than half an hour played as Esteban Granero curled in a free kick for Agirretxe to convert with a powerful header from close range.

Almeria made sure that they led at the interval though as Bifouma got forward again, playing it through to Tomer Hemed, who curled it into the top corner, restoring the home side's advantage.

The visitors came close to another equaliser at the start of the second half when Sergio Canales went straight for goal from a free kick on the edge of the box, but his effort was just wide.

He got another just moments later though as Sociedad made their way forward again, leaving Canales to slot the ball into the bottom corner from close range.

Michel tried to re-establish the lead quickly for Almeria, but his finish lacked power, leaving Rulli with a comfortable save in the away goal.

Hemed had what would be the best chance to win it for the home side when he collected the ball from Bifouma on the edge of the box before attempting to curl it in, forcing a diving stop from Rulli.

Almeria looked the more likely in the closing stages as they pushed for a third goal, but a Verza corner was swiftly dealt with before Michel's cross was turned behind, leaving the sides to finish level.

The draw moves Sociedad up to 11th in the table, while Almeria move four points clear of the relegation zone in 15th.
