Zinedine Zidane sack 'would cost Real Madrid more than £70m'

Real Madrid would reportedly need to pay out £70m if they wish to part ways with boss Zinedine Zidane.

Real Madrid would reportedly need to shell out £70m if they wish to end Zinedine Zidane's second spell as manager.

Despite much being expected of Zidane when he returned to the Bernabeu earlier this year, he has lost five of his 16 matches in charge, the latest being a 3-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The result has led to speculation regarding the Frenchman's future, with Jose Mourinho being suggested as his replacement should Florentino Perez make another change in the dugout.

However, according to Sport, the Spanish giants will be required to pay out in the region of £70m if they wish to pull the plug on Zidane's reign.

While such a decision appears unlikely in the short term, a poor result against Sevilla at the weekend will only increase the chances of the 47-year-old being removed from his position.
