Real Madrid hammer Almeria

Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are all on target as Real Madrid thrash Almeria 5-0 in La Liga.

Real Madrid have registered a comprehensive 5-0 win against Almeria away from home in La Liga.

Cristiano Ronaldo took just three minutes to open the scoring at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos, turning in Isco's cross from close range.

The Portugal international forward came close to adding to his tally minutes later, but he saw his shot from distance saved by Suarez Esteban, who also kept out Karim Benzema's attempt soon after.

Carlo Ancelotti's side continued to press forward, with Pepe, Gareth Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema all trying their luck but in vain, while Suso, Rodri and Aleix Vidal had Almeria's best chances in the first half.

The visitors from Madrid stepped up their game in the second half and doubled their advantage just past the hour mark when Benzema slammed home from outside the box.

That opened the floodgates as Bale made it 3-0 on 72 minutes and moments later Isco fired home from distance after being teed up by Jese.

Alvaro Morata completed the rout for Madrid nine minutes from the full-time whistle, slotting home from outside the area after latching onto a through-ball from Casemiro.
