Ronaldo wins European golden boot

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won the European golden boot for a second time after being the continent's top scorer.

The Portuguese international scored 53 goals in 54 competitive matches for the Spanish club over a two-year period to claim the award.

Ronaldo first won the award in 2008 after topping the Premier League's scoring charts with Manchester United.

"I would trade this award right now for the Champions League or La Liga," Ronaldo said.

"You can only win individual awards because the team help you.

"I would like to win something bigger at a collective level. I do not think about breaking records, but about Real Madrid. I think our team is more mature and with more trust, and we all have to think the same way to achieve an important goal."

The 26-year-old recently scored his 100th goal for Madrid after just 105 games, meaning he averages a goal every 94 minutes for Los Blancos.
