Cristiano Ronaldo is overjoyed at breaking into the top six goalscorers in Real Madrid's history and wants to reach the number one spot.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his delight at becoming the joint-sixth top-scoring player in the club's history.

The 28-year-old drew level with Francisco Gento on Saturday with a hat-trick against Sevilla in their 4-1 victory in La Liga.

"It's an honour to be one of these legendary scorers and to be one of the top scorers," Ronaldo told Madrid's official website.

"To make this list in the short time I've been with the club, to see my name associated with these players is a reason to be proud, motivated and happy. I've always said that records are made to be broken, not just by myself but by the next generation of players.

"I'm happy to have beaten these records and I'm happy to have reached these numbers. What I want more than anything is to keep on going and try for first place."

Ronaldo will be back in action on Wednesday when Madrid host his former club Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
