How Real Madrid could line up against Alaves

Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up in Sunday's La Liga clash with Alaves.

Real Madrid will be looking to make it five straight wins in all competitions when they welcome Alaves to the Bernabeu in La Liga on Sunday night.

Madrid currently occupy third spot in the table - 10 points off leaders Barcelona - while Alaves are enjoying a remarkable campaign and sit fifth in the division entering Week 22.

Thursday's 3-1 win at Girona saw Madrid qualify for the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey with a 7-3 aggregate success. Santiago Solari's team have been drawn against holders Barcelona in the last four, while the Champions League also starts up again this month.

Los Blancos' immediate attention will be on this weekend's clash with Alaves, however, as they seek to make it four straight league wins.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how Real could line up on Sunday night.

Out: Jesus Vallejo (hamstring), Raphael Varane (suspended), Dani Carvajal (suspended)

Madrid will be without the services of both Raphael Varane and Dani Carvajal this weekend through suspension. Varane received a straight red card in the 4-2 win over Espanyol last weekend, while Carvajal picked up a yellow in the same match, which led to a one-match ban.

As a result, Alvaro Odriozola and Nacho will come into the back four for the home side.

Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio could both start having recovered from injury in recent matches, while Mariano Diaz is also available following a back problem.

Madrid have had to deal with a significant injury list in recent weeks, but back-up defender Jesus Vallejo, as it stands, is their only first-team absentee with a hamstring problem.

Karim Benzema took his tally for the season to 17 with a brace against Girona on Thursday night, and the Frenchman has formed a strong on-field relationship with Vinicius Junior, who might be given a rest this weekend following a busy run of matches.
