Spanish Football Federation to suspend domestic fixtures

The Spanish Football Federation has taken the decision to suspend all domestic matches indefinitely from May 16 over a government dispute concerning TV rights.

It was revealed last week that a new law on collective bargaining for television rights was to be implemented from 2016, in order to allow income to be spread more evenly across each side in Spain's top two divisions.

A statement released by the federation said that it was dissatisfied with an allocation of 4.55% from the pools fund, and would therefore suspend all matches from the middle of this month, including the Copa del Rey final.

"At the same time, and yet again, we reiterate the offer of dialogue to the Spanish government," the statement added.

Barcelona currently lead Real Madrid by two points at the top of the La Liga table, with three games left to play.
