Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Real Madrid injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Real Madrid will endeavour to secure a simple route into the semi-finals of the Champions League when they welcome Chelsea to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their quarter-final tie on Tuesday night.

Carlo Ancelotti's side ran out 3-1 winners in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, with Karim Benzema netting another phenomenal European hat-trick.

The prospect of a league and cup double is still alive for Los Blancos, who remain out of sight in La Liga after securing a simple 2-0 win over Getafe at the weekend.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the second leg.

Eden Hazard

Status: Out Type of injury: Leg Possible return date: Unknown

Former Chelsea man Eden Hazard has undergone an operation to remove an osteosynthesis plate on his right fibula, so he will not be available to reunite with his old employers this week.

Isco

Status: Out Type of injury: Abductor Possible return date: Unknown

Isco trained normally before the win over Getafe but was nevertheless absent from Ancelotti's squad, and the playmaker has not made the squad for the second leg either.

Luka Jovic

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: April 12 (vs. Chelsea)

Luka Jovic's ankle problem prevented him from turning out against Getafe at the weekend, but the Serbian striker has shaken off the issue and is in the squad for Tuesday.

Ferland Mendy

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Fatigue Possible return date: April 12 (vs. Chelsea)

Ancelotti decided to rest Ferland Mendy for the win over Getafe, but the left-back is not carrying an injury and should be fine to take his place in the side on Tuesday night.

Jesus Vallejo

Status: Out Type of injury: COVID-19 Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid confirmed on Monday afternoon that Jesus Vallejo had tested positive for COVID-19, but the defender was never expected to earn any minutes here anyway.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Eder Militao

Status: Out Return date: April 17 (vs. Sevilla)

Eder Militao collected his third booking of this season's Champions League before being hauled off injured at Stamford Bridge, and he will serve a one-match European suspension this week.
