Reading to sign Dutch winger Ola John from Portuguese side Benfica?

Reading will sign Benfica winger Ola John as they attempt to build a squad that can gain promotion to the Premier League, according to a report.

Championship side Reading are reportedly close to securing the signature of Benfica winger Ola John.

The Daily Mail claims that the Royals will wrap up the signature of the 23-year-old before the transfer window closes.

However, the fee paid to the Primeira Liga outfit will be significantly less than the player's reported £24m buyout clause.

The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder made 26 appearances for Benfica last season, scoring three goals.

Reading have already confirmed the season-long loan signing of Chelsea forward Lucas Piazon.
