Reading owner Anton Zingarevich says that he has "total faith" in manager Brian McDermott after the Royals picked up their first win of the Premier League campaign against Everton at the weekend.

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich has insisted that manager Brian McDermott is the right man to keep the Royals in the Premier League.

The 51-year-old's job had come under pressure in recent weeks but the former Championship outfit managed to get their first win on the board by securing a 2-1 victory over Everton.

"I have total faith in him," said Zingarevich. "I'm sure he is the man for the job. I'm sure he can become a very good manager in the Premier League. I think he has the right characteristics to be a manager.

"You can be a good coach but it's about being the right manager. The way he handles the group and the spirit they have, the manager is a key person in all of that process.

"To be a good manager you need to be a good psychologist and he is, that's the key. From the first meeting I understood that."

Reading now reside one place above the relegation zone in the league table.
