Reading manager Steve Clarke has promised the club's supporters that they will not be fighting relegation next season.
The Royals are 19th in the Championship following their defeat at Rotherham United on Tuesday evening, which leaves them just six points above the drop zone with a game left to play.
Having narrowly avoided the drop into League One, Clarke says that he will turn the club's fortunes around in the summer.
"I can promise the supporters that next season will be better," he told Get Reading. "They have to stick with us, they have to believe that we know what's wrong and we know what to do. It's going to be a busy summer.
"That (relegation) won't even be an issue next season, that's what I'm trying to say to supporters. It's not going to happen. Next season we won't be near the bottom three. Things need to change in the summer and things will change.
"I've got a lot of work to do. I don't think my wife is very happy because I'm not going to be getting much time on the beach this summer."
Reading travel to Derby County on the final day of the season.
