Cordoba edge past Rayo Vallecano

Abdoulaye Ba scores an own goal as Cordoba beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 to make it two successive La Liga wins.

Abdoulaye Ba's own goal was enough to give Cordoba a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano in their La Liga clash this evening.

Bebe had the first chance on goal for the visitors with a free kick that was saved by Tono.

Moments later Alberto Bueno had the ball in the net for the hosts, but his effort was ruled out for an offside.

Rayo threatened again five minutes later as Lica met Jozabed's cross and directed his header just wide of the post.

Despite the home side's dominance, they fell behind six minutes before half time when Ba turned Florin Andone's cross into his own net.

After the break Rayo pushed for a way back into the game and they were inches away from drawing level when Alexandre Moreno curled a strike against the bar.

The hosts continued to press for an equaliser, but they were unable to find a way past Juan Carlos as they suffered their fourth league defeat in five games.
