Dean Shiels rejected English sides in favour of Rangers

New Rangers signing Dean Shiels has claimed that he turned down moves to English clubs as well as Europe before signing a deal with the Scottish Third Division side.

Rangers wrapped up the signing of Shiels earlier today and the player has said that feeling "wanted" by the club was a deciding factor.

"There were moves to England and abroad but none were the size of club that Rangers are," Sky Sports News quotes Shiels as saying.

"There has been interest for a while now. Knowing I was wanted, a few months ago, when they were still in the Scottish Premier League, was a good factor.

"I felt wanted and I was keen to come here. As soon as I spoke to the manager, my mind was made up."

Shiels is Rangers' second signing since being liquidated last season.
