Rangers stay top despite draw

Rangers have held on to top spot in the Scottish Championship table despite drawing 1-1 away to Livingston.

Mark Warburton's side took the lead in the 22nd minute as Jason Holt finished off a Rangers counter-attack, having been sent through on goal by Barrie McKay.

McKay came closest to doubling the Gers' lead in the first half as his curled strike from the edge of the box smacked the base of Marc McCallum's post.

The Livingston keeper then saved from Martyn Waghorn's volley from inside the box, before the Lions almost equalised as Jordan White headed straight at Rangers stopper Wes Foderingham from close range.

Mark Burchill's side did level the scoreline early in the second half as Myles Hippolyte fired past Foderingham from outside the box.

Kenny Miller, introduced for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Nathan Oduwa after 56 minutes, went close to putting Rangers back in front with 75 minutes played but McCallum's reaction save kept the scores level.

Livingston substitute Gary Glen felt that he was fouled inside the area with five minutes left in the tie, but the referee waved away appeals as the game ended in a draw.

Rangers stay first in the table, ahead of Hibernian who won 1-0 away to Alloa Athletic, on goal difference.
