Rangers win first match as 'newco' in extra time

Rangers 2-1 Brechin City (AET)

Rangers needed extra time to win their first match under owner Charles Green against Brechin City in the Scottish League Ramsdens Cup.

A crowd of 4,000 at Glebe Park saw Rangers get off to a flying start with a goal from Andy Little after just three minutes.

The Gers could not keep their lead until half time however, with Brechin firing back with a neat finish from Andy Jackson.

A frustrating second half saw Rangers struggle to break down a spirited City defence, sending the match into extra time.

Talismanic midfielder Lee McCulloch made the crucial breakthrough deep into the additional 30 minutes, earning a win in the opening game of the season for Ally McCoist's men.
