Mark Warburton content with Rangers schedule ahead of Scottish Cup final

Rangers boss Mark Warburton says that he is content with the club's fixture schedule ahead of the Scottish Cup final with Hibernian next month.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton has said that he would not want his side facing a similar fixture schedule to the one that Hibernian must face in order to secure promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

The two teams will meet in the Scottish Cup final on May 21, but while Rangers will be left without a competitive game for 21 days after winning the Scottish Championship title, Hibs must come through the playoffs if they are to join them.

There is a debate to be had over which team are in the best situation, but Warburton has no concerns over his players not competing in a meaningful game for three weeks ahead of the showdown at Hampden Park.

The 53-year-old told reporters: "We have a tight squad so in our situation, you run the risk of injuries. It's not so much fatigue because they are in good shape but the actual injury risk is high so I wouldn't want that.

"I am very comfortable that the players are focused. They have delivered all season when they have been challenged and they will do the same on May 21".

With two games remaining, Rangers sit 16 points clear of Hibs in the second-tier standings.
