Rangers serve administration notice

Glasgow Rangers have lodged notice that they are planning to go into administration.

Solicitors submitted the papers with the Court of Session in Edinburgh earlier today.

The Gers now have around seven days to appoint an administrator to take over the day-to-day running of the club.

Rangers' move has come as the club awaits a tax tribunal decision over a disputed bill plus penalties totalling £49m.

Rangers, who are the current champions of Scotland, are likely to face a ten-point deduction once administration has been confirmed.

That would leave Ally McCoist's side trailing City rivals Celtic at the top of the table.
