Mark Hughes refuses to resign?

Mark Hughes reportedly turned down a request from members of the Queens Park Rangers board to resign from his position as the club's manager yesterday.

The Welshman is said to have spent around two hours locked in talks with chief executive Philip Beard on Monday afternoon.

Following those talks, reports surfaced that Hughes had been relieved of his duties because of the club's failure to win a match this season, which in turn has seen them drop to the bottom of the Premier League table.

However, the R's later confirmed that Hughes remained their manager.

The London Evening Standard has today claimed that the 49-year-old was asked to step down from the position after just 10 months in charge.

Hughes refused to do so and talks were then ended because owner Tony Fernandes is currently out of the country on business.

Further reports have suggested that discussions between Hughes and Fernandes will take place upon the latter's return.
