Team News: Alex McCarthy out for Queens Park Rangers, Rio Ferdinand on bench

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is out of this evening's Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Loftus Road with a thigh injury.

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is out of this evening's Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Loftus Road.

The 24-year-old is suffering with a thigh injury, but fellow stopper Robert Green has recovered from an illness and makes the starting XI in between the posts.

Meanwhile, Nedum Onuoha and Sandro will not take part in tonight's game as they are both injured, but Eduardo Vargas is in Harry Redknapp's starting lineup following his brace against Liverpool last week.

In addition, veteran defender Rio Ferdinand has been dropped to the bench, the QPR boss opting for Richard Dunne and Steven Caulker at the back instead.

Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos has failed to recover from a thigh injury in time to feature, while Christian Benteke is set to continue in attack after making his first start since March in the 3-0 defeat to Everton.

Queens Park Rangers: Green, Isla, Caulker, Dunne, Suk-Young, Vargas, Sandro, Henry, Fer, Austin, Zamora
Subs: Murphy, Traore, Ferdinand, Hill, Phillips, Kranjcar, Hoilett

Aston Villa: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Cissokho, Westwood, Cleverley, Sanchez, Weimann, Agbonlahor, Benteke
Subs: Given, Okore, Cole, Bent, Bacuna, Richardson, N'Zogbia
