Warnock responds to Taarabt wage demands

QPR manager Neil Warnock has revealed that Adel Taarabt has a while to wait before he receives an improved contract.

The 22-year-old, reported to be earning £25,000 per week, asked for a wage increase earlier in the week after seeing new players join the club on higher wages. Among them is Joey Barton, who has also replaced him as captain.

"There are plenty before him - me included," the manager said.

"There are a lot of people behind the scenes who have things to say and the only way to answer things is to play on the field of play. That's what I told him to do.

"He's got no excuse now. He's got a team that are capable of giving him the ball in dangerous areas and he's got to perform. I don't see any new contracts for anybody before Christmas."

QPR travel to face Wolves on Saturday for a 3pm kickoff.
