QPR striker Charlie Austin: 'Point against Brighton is well deserved'

Charlie Austin says that Queens Park Rangers "deserved" to take a point after he scored twice to draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has claimed that he and his teammates "deserved" to nick a point in their clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at Loftus Road this evening.

The 26-year-old, who started the game as he continues to work his way back from a calf injury, scored twice in the second half, guiding his team back from a 2-0 deficit.

The equaliser came five minutes after Brighton's Lewis Dunk was sent off for a second bookable offence, but Austin believes that QPR would have scored again regardless of the extra-man advantage.

"We went 2-0 down to two sloppy goals - it's a wet night so it's a goalkeeper's nightmare," Austin told Sky Sports News. "We had the momentum, we got the goal back - you heard the difference the crowd made.

"[I think] we would have got to the goal [regardless of the sending-off]. The lads deserved the point. We worked so hard throughout the 90 minutes, but we're disappointed with the goals we conceded."

QPR are 12th in the table, six points off a playoff spot.
