Good morning! Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is due to speak to reporters at around 9.30am today ahead of Sunderland's visit to Loftus Road tomorrow. The Hoops will be hoping to secure their first points of the season, having lost both matches since their return to the Premier League.

There's already been some unfortunate news from QPR this morning. Midfielder Alejandro Faurlin has been ruled out for six to nine months after tearing his ACL for a third time. Redknapp has described the injury as "terribly bad luck".

As well as their winless start to the Premier League season, QPR also suffered a defeat in the Capital One Cup this week, being knocked out by League Two side Burton Albion in one of the shocks of the round.

Rangers announced a new signing earlier this week, bringing in defender Jack Robinson from Liverpool. However, the 20-year-old won't be featuring for the London side this season, having been sent out on loan at Huddersfield Town.

QPR head into the weekend at the bottom of the Premier League table. Their opponents sit 11th, having drawn both matches so far this season. QPR are alongside Burnley and Crystal Palace in the bottom three, who are also yet to get off the mark.

After this weekend's fixture, QPR face a tricky run of matches in September, with visits to Manchester United and Southampton, as well as hosting former manager Mark Hughes's Stoke City side.

With the news about Faurlin's injury breaking just a short time ago, it looks like Redknapp is running a little late. Redknapp sits himself down and readies himself for questions, so lets see what he has to say...

Understandably, the first topic of conversation is Ale Faurlin's injury. The manager says: "Ale picked up the injury against Burton and it didn't look serious. It's a massive blow. He's a special lad and he will work hard to get fit. He will come back against, I am sure."

When asked about the team's run of defeats since the start of the season, Redknapp admits: "I knew it was going to be a difficult start. We have bought good players in but we need time to gel. It takes time. I'm very confident after this [international] break you will see a different QPR team. Hopefully we'll get a result against Sunderland."

Redknapp believes that he does not need to change the team's approach to playing in the Premier League: It's not about systems. "It's about good players. I speak to others playing it and it is working. We need to gel."

Attention turns to the transfer window, which shuts on Monday evening. Redknapp reveals that there could be some departures from Loftus Road before then: "One or two might go before the window shuts. I'd like to freshen things up still if I can. We need a little bit of quality in one or two positions and if we get the players in that I want I'm confident we will be OK."

The manager is full of praise for his opposite number, Sunderland boss Gus Poyet: "Sunderland finished last season well. They have improved their squad and Gus Poyet has done a good job there."

Looking at players who will or won't be available for this match, Redknapp tells reporters: "We need to see how Charlie Austin is this morning and see if he can come out and train. We're still waiting to hear about [newly-signed] Eduardo Vargas. He's still in Italy awaiting his working permit."

Redknapp is optimistic that QPR can recover from their difficult start to the season: "You have bad teams, it how you bounce back from those days. It happens, it's how you come back."

Redknapp has also admitted that he is keen to complete the signings of Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy before Monday's transfer deadline. The club lost Julio Cesar earlier in the summer, leaving Rob Green as their first choice.

One player who could be on his way out is defender Armand Traore. The left-bakc is the subject of a bid from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace. Redknapp says: "It's up to Armand really, it's his decision if he wants to go."

Redknapp is hoping that his team will put in a more attacking performance against Sunderland tomorrow: "It would be nice tomorrow to get some goals and get off the mark and win some games."

It's been reported in the last couple of days that Redknapp will be offered a contract extension at Loftus Road. Well, the boss has confirmed that he has been offered a new deal, and that he intends to sign it: "[Chairman] Tony Fernandes has offered me an extension of two years. I'll sign it and won't even read it. He's been asking me for a little while, I have just not got round to doing it. Maybe today, if they put it in front of me I'll sign it."

And on that note, Redknapp exits the media centre to continue his preparations for the match. He'll certainly be hoping that Charlie Austin comes through training today, as well as a swift resolution to the Vargas situation - it's been over a week since his transfer was completed.
