Preston North End sign Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy on loan

Preston North End have completed the signing of Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy on loan.

Last season McCarthy had temporary spells at both Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers, and has now moved to Deepdale on an 93-day loan.

"I jumped at the chance to come here and I'm excited for the challenge ahead," the 32-year-old told the club's official website.

"It has been a quick turnaround. I've played a lot of games in the Championship and we have got a decent squad here so hopefully I can add something to that."

The Irishman went straight into the Lilywhites' starting lineup for the clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this afternoon.
