Lukasz Piszczek: 'Poland supporters have been waiting a long time for win over Germany'

Piszczek: 'Germany win means a lot'

Poland full-back Lukasz Piszczek has said that his side's 2-0 victory over Germany "means a lot for the country".

Poland had remarkably never beaten their bitter rivals in 19 attempts prior to last night's Euro 2016 qualifying victory over the world champions in Warsaw.

After the game, Borussia Dortmund star Piszczek told reporters that the win left he and his teammates "delighted".

"We are delighted, you could see that the supporters have been waiting a long time for this victory," he said.

"Our counter-attack game worked really well and we took our chances. That was the difference as the Germans didn't use theirs.

"It means a lot for the country, but we need to stay focused and concentrate on our next game on Tuesday."

The result leaves Poland in second place in Group D, level on points with Scotland after two rounds of fixtures. The two sides meet in Warsaw on Tuesday, and you can follow the game live on Sports Mole.
