Osasuna send Rayo Vallecano into bottom three

Osasuna put three past Rayo Vallecano to send them into the bottom three of La Liga.

Osasuna have condemned Rayo Vallecano to the bottom three of La Liga with a 3-1 home victory over Paco Jemez's side.

Oier Sanjurjo opened the scoring for the hosts inside the first minute, leaping high in the area to nod home Roberto Torres's curling corner.

They doubled their lead 12 minutes later when Miguel de las Cuevas's deflected effort was parried by Rayo goalkeeper Ruben Martinez, allowing Oriol Riera to tuck away the rebound.

Torres got his name on the scoresheet in the second period with an impressive finish from close range to kill off any hope of a Rayo fightback, but a 66th-minute red card put a blemish on the home side's evening.

De las Cuevas was dismissed for a late tackle on Adri Embarba - Osasuna's second red card in as many games.

The visitors pulled a goal back moments later when Jonathan Viera's cross was turned in by Alex Galvez, but a single consolation goal did nothing to prevent them from sliding into the bottom three.
