Fawaz Al-Hasawi to pay Nottingham Forest debts "imminently"

Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi vows to pay off the club's outstanding debt to Peterborough United "imminently", having been placed under a transfer embargo.

Nottingham Forest owner and chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi has insisted that he will repay the club's debts "imminently".

The East Midlands outfit has been placed under a full transfer embargo after missing the deadline for the latest instalment of money due to Peterborough United following the club-record signing of Britt Assombalonga in the summer.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony was furious with the Championship club as they affected his ability to sign players on deadline day, but Al-Hasawi has assured fans that the outstanding money will be paid shortly.

"I can assure you any outstanding payments will be resolved imminently and our embargo situation will not change," the Kuwaiti owner said on Twitter.

"To clarify, once our outstanding payments have been resolved we will still be able to sign players on emergency loans under FFP rules."

As things stand, Forest, who were already under transfer restrictions for breaching Financial Fair Play rules, would not be able to bring any players in when the loan window opens again next week.
