Alex Neil hails Ricky van Wolfswinkel's performance against Rotherham United, while the Norwich City boss refuses to be drawn on the future of Lewis Grabban

Norwich City boss Alex Neil has praised Ricky van Wolfswinkel after the Dutch striker scored in the Canaries 2-1 win at Rotherham United.

Van Wolfswinkel netted the second for the Premier League outfit at the New York Stadium as they reached the third round of the Capital One Cup.

Speaking afterwards, Neil hailed his forward's effort against the Millers, but refused to be drawn on whether Lewis Grabban would be sold before the end of the transfer window.

He is quoted by the club's official Twitter feed as saying: "I thought Rotherham worked hard. We had to really compete. It was a good cup-tie but we deserved to win.

"Ricky did really well tonight. He worked really hard, did well for the team and got the winning goal.

"We deal with this sort of thing (Grabban's future) behind closed doors. The bids received for him are well below our asking price."

On Monday, Neil confirmed that he had rejected two bids for Grabban, who was left out of the squad to face Rotherham.
