Norwich City's Adam Idah is set to miss the rest of the season due to his injury.
The striker suffered knee and ankle problems during their recent outing against Crystal Palace, and tests have provided further details on how serious those issues are.
"He went in for an arthroscopy and then for a meniscus (cartilage) repair, he should be out for the season now," Dean Smith confirmed to the press.
"It is a big blow because he broke into the team and was doing well, so it is disappointing for him and for the team, but it gives other players an opportunity now."
The 21-year-old has made 17 appearances in the Premier League this season for the Canaries, finding the back of the net on one occasion, having become a favourite under Smith, who has started him during the previous six fixtures.
Norwich City will be back in action on Saturday when they play Liverpool.
