Tom Bender 'touched' by support

Accrington Stanley defender Tom Bender has thanked everybody that has sent him messages of support following last night's on-pitch collision teammate Ian Dunbavin.

Bender received treatment on the field of play for around half an hour after being knocked out before being taken to hospital.

The 18-year-old was discharged from hospital earlier today and has revealed that he appreciates the level of support that he has received.

"On my way home from the hospital! Thank you so so much for all the messages of support! It really does mean a lot!," the Colchester United loanee wrote on Twitter.

"I never in a million years think I'd receive this much support! It truly is touching! Can't wait to get home and see the family now!"

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy fixture between Stanley and Tranmere Rovers was abandoned as a result of Bender's injury.
