Sunday's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup: Luis Suarez, Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Barcelona on Sunday, September 27.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Barcelona eye possible reinforcements.

The Spanish champions spent big on Antoine Griezmann last summer but missed out on a big-name striker in January and have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, meaning that selling players rather than buying could be their priority this summer.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from the Camp Nou.

Sunday morning's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup:

Barcelona 'prioritising Memphis Depay signing'

Barcelona will reportedly prioritise their pursuit of Lyon forward Memphis Depay over the coming weeks.

While the Catalan giants have been heavily linked with an approach for the Netherlands international, they have been unable to make any additions until reducing their squad numbers.

With Nelson Semedo and Luis Suarez having departed for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Atletico Madrid respectively, signings are expected to be made in the coming weeks.

According to reports in Spain, manager Ronald Koeman is eager to get a deal over the line for Dutch compatriot Depay as soon as possible.

Despite his key-man status at the Groupama Stadium, Depay will be allowed to leave due to just over nine months remaining on his contract.

Lyon are said to be demanding in the region of £28m for the attacker, who has contributed 58 goals from his 142 appearances for the French side.

Ronald Koeman refuses to rule out Martinez, Memphis moves for Barcelona

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has refused to rule out the possibility of La Blaugrana signing an attacker before the transfer window closes on October 5.

After being informed that he was not in Koeman's plans going forward, Luis Suarez recently left the Catalan giants to join La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid on a two-year deal.

That leaves Barcelona with a space for a forward to come in before the deadline, although the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic have hindered La Blaugrana's chances of making big-money signings during this window.

Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez and Lyon's Memphis Depay have both been persistently linked with switches to Camp Nou, and Koeman revealed that business could still be completed before the October 5 deadline, telling reporters: "Nothing is ruled out.

"But as I have said, I am focused on the players who are here. Barca always has to be prepared to strengthen [the squad]."

Barcelona kick off their 2020-21 La Liga campaign on Sunday when they welcome Villarreal to Camp Nou for Koeman's first competitive game in charge.
