Scotland's 42 senior clubs finally ratified plans for a new Scottish Professional Football League on Thursday night.

Following more than 15 hours of protracted talks at Hampden Park, the merger of the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League was agreed.

The current structure of 12 teams in the top division and 10 in each of the three leagues below will remain.

However, a playoff system will be introduced, as will a new financial redistribution model.

The SPFL board will comprise of Eric Riley, Steven Thompson, Duncan Fraser, Les Gray, Mike Mulraney and Bill Darroch.
