Ronaldo to return to football?

Brazilian Ronaldo could be making a sensational return to football in an attempt to boost the international profile of NASL club Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldo could be making a sensational return to football after buying a major stake in NASL club Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

Ronaldo became joint-owner of the American side, the club formerly known as Miami FC, last week and is allegedly preparing to lace up his boots for the first time since his retirement from the game in 2011 to boost the club's international profile.

"I will be very involved with the management of the team and have already started to make introductions that will certainly help us to turn the Strikers into a global powerhouse," the 38-year-old said, according to Goal.com.

"There are no doubts that the beautiful game is growing exponentially in the U.S., and I guarantee you that the NASL will play a key role in the rise of professional soccer here."

The NASL - the USA's second division - already contains a familiar face and a former teammate of Ronaldo, as legendary Spain forward Raul has joined up with the reincarnated New York Cosmos.
