Redknapp backs Neville over Villas-Boas row

Redknapp backs Neville over AVB row

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has defended Gary Neville over his row with Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Neville, who now works as a television pundit, had criticised a number of Blues players after their defeat to Liverpool in November.

Villas-Boas hit back at the former Manchester United defender and even claimed that he would like to meet him face to face.

However, Spurs boss Redknapp believes that Neville is only doing his job.

"That is what pundits are paid to do," he said. "They come on TV and if they did not have an opinion they would be no good being on there.

"They have to say what they think. You can't have the praise one minute and then not like it when you get a bit of criticism.

"You've got to take it all or not at all. You can't just take the stuff when they say how good you are and what a wonderful coach you are. You just have to get on with it."

Redknapp's son, Jamie, works alongside Neville as a pundit.
