Police officer suspended over Morosini's ambulance delay

A policeman who was responsible for the delay of an ambulance attending to Piermario Morosini has been handed an automatic suspension.

The 25-year-old Livorno midfielder collapsed and died after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Serie B fixture on Saturday afternoon.

A traffic police car blocked the ambulance's route into the stadium, resulting in a delay.

The window of the vehicle eventually had to be smashed in order for it to be moved.

A disciplinary sentence, which carries a maximum of six months, will begin on Monday, May 7.
