Plastic pitches to make comeback?

Plastic pitches are in line to return as Football League chairmen vote to reopen discussions over the matter.

Plastic pitches may make a return to England after club chairmen voted to have a formal discussion on the notion in the summer.

The surfaces were banned in this country in 1995 due to some clubs having an unfair home advantage with the installed pitches.

Despite initial reservations, the Football League have chosen to reopen the issue due to the success of plastic pitches in other countries permitted by FIFA and UEFA.

The matter will be discussed during the Football League's conference on May 31 and June 1.
