Nigerian footballer Henry Chinonso dies while playing in a Romanian second division match on Sunday.

Nigerian footballer Henry Chinonso Ihelewere died while playing in Romania on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was playing for CS Delta Tulcea against FC Balotești in Romania's second division when he collapsed after 15 minutes.

Ihelewere was taken to hospital but after an hour of of resuscitation attempts was pronounced dead.

No further details on the cause of death have currently been published.

Ihelewere had been playing in Romania since 2007, when he was transferred to FC Farul. He was part of a group of Nigerian players brought in to play in Romania's second division.
