Manchester United have convinced the council to give them planning permission to install floodlights at the club's training complex, according to reports.
United manager Louis van Gaal is said to be eager to replicate late afternoon and evening game conditions with late training sessions.
According to The Mirror, Trafford Council were reluctant to give the club permission to erect floodlights over fears of how the construction would affect the local bat population, but the Red Devils were given the green light after a specialist was called in.
Van Gaal has already presided over extensive work at Carrington, where the main training pitch was re-laid, trees planted to reduce the effect of the wind and high-tech cameras were adopted to monitor his squad in training.
