Charlton extend their lead at the top of the division to three points as Huddersfield are the only team to drop points in the top five.

Charlton extended their lead at the top of League One to three points after a 2-1 victory at Wycombe as second-placed Huddersfield dropped points at Scunthorpe.

Bradley Wright-Phillips's first-half brace was enough for the Addicks as they recorded their tenth win of the season.

Huddersfield's 2-2 draw at Glanford Park means the Tykes have now gone 40 games unbeaten. Only three other sides have achieved this feat - Chelsea, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.

Ian Bennett saved two Scunthorpe penalties and another Jordan Rhodes goal seemed to have given the visitors victory before Chris Dagnall's late strike.

Sheffield Wednesday would have moved above Huddersfield into second but for three second-half goals in 14 minutes from Carlisle as they went down 3-2.

Ben Marshall had put the Owls ahead before Lee Miller, Rory Loy and Liam Noble scored for the home side.

Wednesday's local rivals Sheffield United moved within a point of the Owls after a 2-1 home victory against the MK Dons. Matt Phillips scored the winner for the Blades.

Two Jeff Hughes penalties helped fifth-placed Notts County come from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw at Bury.

Tranmere and Hartlepool started the evening level on 22 points but it was visiting Tranmere who claimed a 2-0 victory thanks to a Lucas Akins brace to move into the playoffs.

Preston and Oldham played out a six-goal thriller in their mid-table clash with James Wesolowski snatching a point for the away side four minutes from time.

At the other end of the table, Leyton Orient left it late to snatch a point at Yeovil, with Dave Mooney scoring from the spot to claim a 2-2 draw.

A Daniel Nardiello double gave Exeter their first away win of the season as they edged past Walsall 2-1 to move out of the relegation zone.

Tuesday's League One results: Brentford 0-1 Stevenage; Bury 2-2 Notts County; Carlisle 3-2 Sheffield Wed; Colchester 1-1 Bournemouth; Hartlepool 0-2 Tranmere; Preston 3-3 Oldham; Rochdale 1-1 Chesterfield; Scunthore 2-2 Huddersfield; Sheffield Utd 2-1 MK Dons; Walsall 1-2 Exeter; Wycombe 1-2 Charlton; Yeovil 2-2 Leyton Orient
