Football League reveals dates for 2016-17 season

The Football League sets the dates for the 2016-17 season in the Championship, League One and League Two.

The Football League has revealed the dates for the 2016-17 season in the Championship, League One and League Two.

There is nearly three-quarters of this term still to play, but next season will kick off on the weekend of Saturday, August 6, 2016.

Around Christmas, there will be the usual matches on Boxing Day, as well as gamedays on New Year's Eve and the New Year Bank Holiday on January 2, 2017.

All three leagues will then finish on the weekend of May 6, 2017 before the end-of-season playoffs.
