Blatter calls Platini deal "nonsense"

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has described reports that he will stand down from his position to make way for his UEFA counterpart Michel Platini to fill the void as "nonsense".

A number of stories had claimed that Blatter would end his spell in charge in 2013, rather than serving his full term until 2015.

"The existence of a 'deal' between me and Michel Platini for the presidency is pure nonsense," Blatter revealed on Twitter.

"The suggestion that I intend to stop my four-year mandate before its end is simply ridiculous."

Blatter was re-elected in June after being the only candidate to stand.
